Microsoft Zune is the "F" word in Hebrew
Microsoft is releasing what they hope to be an iPod killer named the Zune.
"Microsoft's forthcoming digital music player, dubbed Zune, may make some Hebrew speakers gasp. The name for the device -- which will take on the Apple iPod when released later this year -- sounds like a vulgarity, specifically the "f" word, in Hebrew.
Hebrew linguists are divided over Zune. Tsila Ratner, the head of Hebrew courses in the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies at University College London, says Zune is an unsuitable name for a product. However, Haggit Inbar-Littas, a 30-year veteran Hebrew teacher with the London Jewish Cultural Center, says while the name is "ridiculous" and close to the bad word, it's unlikely to be mistaken." - itworld.com

Settle for Brian
I bet this guy has to beat chicks off with a stick. Definitely worth a look though. Be sure to look at his pros and cons list. At least he is honest.
Green Arrow on Smallville
If you are a fan of Smallville, tonight they will be airing an episode introducing the Green Arrow. If you don't watch the show you should check it out. Who wouldn't wanna watch a show about Superman? The show can be teeny bopper cheesey sometimes but very cool concept over all. And they actually pulled off the Green Arrow and still managed to make him look cool. Makes me miss the days when I was a comic collector.
New Vista License Terms Impede Mac Users
Microsoft continues to try and shoot themselves in the foot. For some unknown reason they are now trying to block people from using features when running Windows through virtual or emulation software such as Boot Camp or Parallels. Are they trying to destroy themselves. I just don't get it.
" For both Home Basic and Home Premium editions, they state that "You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system." For other editions, such use is permitted but restricted:
You may use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights management services or using full volume disk drive encryption."

Piclens (Beta)
If you use picture sites like Flickr very often you need to check out this little app for Safari. It lets you click on a set of images and view them in a slideshow much like Apple's Front Row. Pretty neat idea. This is also coming out for Windows as well. Current supported sites are:
Flickr
Photobucket
Google Image Search
Yahoo Image Search
Ask.com Image Search

Internet Explorer 7
New features include: Interface Update, RSS Feeds, Phishing Filter, Protected Mode, Tabbed Browsing, and PNG support among many others. So in other words after five years it's now up to date with Firefox and Safari and every other modern web browser. If you must use Internet Explorer please do all us web designers a favor and upgrade today. This will fix many problems IE has with today's web standards. Not all, as Microsoft continues to feel they are above the standards and often choose to try and make their own rules. Ok end of rant... point of story... use Firefox or upgrade to IE 7.

Slow Motion Water Balloon
Very cool footage of a kid being hit by a water balloon in slow motion. They recorded this at 1000 frames per second to slow it down this much.
