Tony Jaa
Crazy fighting scene... serious bone crunching. You can skip to the 1:00 min mark to see the fighting. Not sure what the heck the other stuff is. I think he's sad his elephant died. Umm...

LG's dual screen, HDTV-equipped refrigerator
The LSC27990TT, sporting dual displays so you won't have to forgo a minute of your compulsive TV viewing to check the weather. The main display is a 15-inch 1,024 x 768 number -- able to connect to a DVD player if you choose -- while its smaller counterpart takes things down to a wee 4-inches for use with LG's "weather and info center." Other non-traditional refrigerating capabilities include an FM radio, recipe bank, calendar, and digital photo album, as well as a "CustomCube" ice maker -- though we're guessing there's probably a strict limit to its customization. While the folks at Electronic House are sayin' that this $3,600 appliance won't be available until next year, it looks like there's plenty of retailers listing it as in stock. - endgadgethd.com
Guess this falls under the "why the heck not" category.
Words and Meanings - "Hair of the Dog"
So to start things off our first saying is "Hair of the Dog". I have always wandered what this phrase means.
HAIR OF THE DOG THAT BIT YOU - "A deliberate second experience (usually alcoholic) with something that was a bad first experience. It is ancient folk wisdom that like cures like, so ancient that the idea was expressed in Latin: Similia similibus curantur. A specific remedy for a dog bite was hair from the dog that bit you; the hair (often burned first) was applied to the wound." From "The Dictionary of Cliches" by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985).
Well now we know.
New Words and Meanings Segment
So I decided to start a new segment called "Words and Meanings". I have always loved finding out where phrases originate. So every week I will add a new saying and give it's origination. Since I will be finding these on the internet I can't verify if they are all correct but I think it will be fun anyway. I will try to do at least one of these a week.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (New Trailer)
Ahhh Zelda goodness... Check out the new opening scene and trailer for Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This is gonna make me buy the Nintendo Wii after all. Zelda has been my absolute favorite game series since I started playing games.
NHL on Google Video
This made my day! Google is now offering all NHL games for FREE!!! You can even download them and watch them later. How cool is that. They are the regular small google video size which is pretty small but this is a great start for them anyway. There are less and less reasons to own a TV these days. Oh and bonus.... you can download it ready for your ipod. Sweet...
Update: well I downloaded a game and started watching it and I gotta say it's not bad at all. They only have games through October 28th and I know the preds played last night (November 1st) so I'm not sure how current this will be and how fast they will upload videos after the game. The video can be stretched and is still very watchable. If they could just add an RSS feed that I could automatically download from this would be awesome. But at least I can now watch my beloved Dallas Stars again. Best part of all of this... no commercials! Bless you Google... bless you.

Creative advertising that makes you look twice
Advertisements usually have a negative connotation associated with them and because of this most people don't like taking the time look at and even read advertisements. The good news is, not all advertisements are bad and some companies have taken the time to design some very clever advertising campaigns. - http://www.pronetadvertising.com
This is a great collection of creative advertising. Some of these are really smart. You gotta check them out.
Troops Messege to John Kerry
Some of you may have heard about the controversy about John Kerry's comments about the troops in Iraq. If you haven't seen it yet here's the clip. I have heard both spins on the subject that he was belittling the troops and the other side that he was making a joke about Bush. I couldn't care less either way. Here is a picture of the troops response :) Now that's pretty funny.

Time lapsed footage of drawings. Fun to watch and hey... Master Chief... can't beat that with a stick. Bunch more on the web site.
Site layout issues
Right... so if you are looking at this site in Internet Explorer 6 the right navigation will be all screwed up. I am trying to fix it but not having much luck. I fixed most of it for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox but there are still little quirks. If you are using Safari on a Mac things will look just as they should. For security reasons you should be using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox if your on a Windows machine anyway.

Layout Changes
Changed things up again. This site will slowly evolve into something I really like some day.
Disco Beta
A new OS X cd and dvd burning program Disco has just released a beta trial for anyone interested. Seems like a decent little app. One of the throwaway features is it smokes while burning a cd. While this won't make or break the sale for anyone it is a very cool idea. This is one of the small reasons I am a Mac user :) You can see the smoke in action in the video below.
Apple's Vista Surprise
Ahhh the Apple rumor mill is starting their engines...
Based on the chatter I'm seeing it appears very likely that Apple is preparing a little surprise for Microsoft at MacWorld which happens at the same time as the Consumer Electronics Show in January. While Microsoft and partners will be talking about Vista in advance of the launch of that product at CES, Apple, along with Intel, will be launching Apple's version of the Media Center with iTV and Leopard. That's right -- Leopard. It looks like this puppy is nearly ready if I'm reading the signs right -- and Apple is clearly setting up for something big.
Now Intel's part goes beyond the chip and appears to contain elements of Viiv, if not all of that platform. Viiv is actually kind of cool, it's just that Intel has not been able to explain effectively what it is and, as a result, the market hasn't been particularly excited about it on Windows. However, Apple knows how to sell and with a problem where the technology is good but the marketing's not, Apple has the skills to make a huge contribution.
Recall how Apple took the MP3 player market by storm by simply looking at what was out there and figuring out how to do it right. Microsoft's Media Center isn't fully cooked, even with Vista, something that Intel actually created Viiv to fix. Now, it appears, the two of them are collaborating to do the Media Center right, and if they hit the target as well as they did with the iPod, which is likely, they could actually have a second massive success on their hands.- macnewsworld.com
FreeMacWare.com

Pink Floyd vs the Wizard of Oz
I have always heard about this but someone finally did it for us. If you play Pink Floyd's album Dark side of the Moon along with the Wizard of Oz it will perfectly sync up with the scene changes. It was recorded as a alternative soundtrack for the Wizard of Oz. Pretty cool... I always wanted to try this. This is what makes the internet such an important technology :)
