We got Peter Forsberg!!!!!!!!

Predators GM David Poile announced Thursday that the club has acquired forward Peter Forsberg from the Philadelphia Flyers for Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent and Nashville’s first-round and third-round selections in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. - nashvillepredators.com

This is awesome news. It has been a rumor for a while now but I never thought we would really get him. Go Preds!!!

Not so ""Best"Buy

Does electronics retailer Best Buy have two different websites for the purpose of deceiving in-store customers about ongoing promotions? That's the allegation of some customers (via Consumerist) who claim that after seeing a sale being offered on BestBuy.com, store employees told them that the sale was over. As proof, they showed the customers what appeared to be BestBuy.com confirming that there was no longer such a sale. One customer got suspicious, and asked the store employee if he could use a computer to go directly to BestBuy.com himself, which still showed the sale as ongoing, suggesting that the site he was shown in the store was not the real thing. Instead, it seems, BestBuy has pages on its intranet that the company uses to show in-store customers what deals are being offered (or, not being offered, apparently). When confronted with this, a spokesperson for the company denied anything devious, but didn't really have a plausible explanation. This seems like a pretty stupid move on the part of the company. If the company really is trying to avoid offering certain sales, it's shooting itself in the foot by making its customers feel like fools. And if it's just a matter of its public site and its intranet not being in sync, then the company needs a little work on its IT system, to avoid future hassles. - techdirt.com

This just happened to me today. I wanted to get season 2 and 3 of the television show Arrested Development, which by the way is a great show I just discovered, so I go online to check who has the best price. Best Buy has both seasons on sale for $19.95. Great I can live with that. So I go into the store and they don't have them marked as on sale. I ask the dude that works there to check to see if they are on sale. He tells me no and I explain that their web site says they were in fact on sale. He pulls the web site up on his computer and shows me the two items which are listed as regular price. I was baffled... I told him I had just looked 10 min ago. He just looked at me like I was crazy. I then remembered reading this story online last week. So I put the DVD's back on the shelf and went home. And as I sepected both DVD's are listed at $19.95 on the web site when I looked again. So I purchesed them online and chose in-store pickup. I'll still get them for the price that was listed but this is wrong. I know they can catch customers who are not as anal as me but it's still wrong and very back handed. Ok I'm done with my rant... Moral of the story never trust a Best Buy in-store web site.

The DangerBomb alarm clock

Already loosed in Japan, the DangerBomb alarm clock from Banpresto is yet another oddball way of coaxing you into the morning grind. To disable the alarm, you must reconnect the red, yellow, and blue cables in the correct order. Fail your mission and suffer the annoyance -- and possible death -- of a mocked audible explosion. Genius. Just ¥2,366 in Japan or $19... if you can get it back through customs. - engadget.com

Build your own RC lawnmower

Sure, you could be boring and just buy a remote control mower all primed and ready to go, but where's the fun in that? Friendly hacker Terry is sharing his instructions for building your very own Destroyer of Lawns, and it doesn't sound too terribly hard as far as awe-inspiring hacks go. The lawnmower cannibalizes parts from a powered wheelchair, requires a bit of electronics knowhow to get the RC bits to interface with the wheelchair control, and the rest is pretty much welding. The Hack-A-Day folks recommend recommend a failsafe for shutting off the mower if it loses radio communications, but they were always worrywarts like that. - engadget.com

Now thats time well spent if you ask me...
