Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs - Mandolin Rain

I just uploaded another video of the "Crossroads" episode with Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs. They played my all time favorite song "Mandolin Rain". This song is one of the big reasons I began playing the guitar and the mandolin. This version is real departure from the original and has kind of a haunting beauty to it. It fits when you realize this is a really sad song anyway. Just shows how a musician like Bruce can re-invent his own material. I think it's amazing and further solidifies Bruce as one of my favorite artists.

Man burns genitals in 'Jackass' stunt

Attempts to do a movie stunt landed one man in the hospital with burned genitals and another facing criminal charges. The men were trying to do a stunt from one of the "Jackass" movies, in which a character lights his genitals on fire.

Jared W. Anderson, 20, suffered serious burns to his hands and genitals, according to the criminal complaint. Randell D. Peterson, 43, who sprayed lighter fluid on Anderson and lit him on fire, was charged with felony battery and first-degree reckless endangerment Tuesday in Eau Claire County Court.

Witnesses told police that Anderson, who was drunk, volunteered to do the stunt Sunday after watching the movie, the complaint said.

According to the complaint:

Anderson pulled down his pants and let Peterson spray him with lighter fluid. When the fire didn't catch, Peterson sprayed more lighter fluid on Anderson, splashing some on his clothing. He tried again to light the fire, catching Anderson's genitals, hands and clothes.

Anderson ran into the bathroom, jumped into the tub and put the flames out. - news.yahoo.com

This is another great example of the genius of my generation. Great story though.

Apple Unveils New Product-Unveiling Product

This is a great story. If your not familiar with "The Onion" it's a fake news site. They make up stories and are sometimes picked up by other news sources who are too dumb to know the difference. Really funny read though.

MIT graduates recreate nacho fountain from Talladega Nights

Chris Vogt and Schuyler Senft-Grupp, two MIT Engineering alums, fulfilled a "mission from the Nacho Gods," to build "the beast," which was directly inspired by a nacho fountain seen in Talladega NIghts. All it took was 4 gallons of water, 6 feet of copper tube, 1 plumber's torch, 4 hose clamps, 4 plastic bowls, 1 aluminum water heater drip pan, 1 emergency drill pump, 1 power drill, various PVC bits, some string, 2 heating plates, 1 wooden spoon, several bags of chips, and of course, 6 gallons of cheese. - engadget.com

What can you say.... good job guys.

Waseda's two-legged, stair-climbing robot in action

A good 90% of our day is spent sitting in a chair delivering you non-stop gadget action, but that other 10% of our waking hours when we're forced to pursue nourishment, let the dog out, and make trips to the bathroom can be a real drag. What we wouldn't give for a chair like the lucky kids at Waseda University have built, a two-foot tall, bipedal "robot" that uses a combination of hydraulics and algorithms to saunter along fairly gracefully and even negotiate difficult terrain like the potentially-deadly household staircase. The WL-16IV, as this model is known (Waseda-Leg Number 16 Refinement Four, apparently) follows several earlier units by the same name, as well as an antiquated prototype from 2001 known called the WL-16. - engadget.com

You need to check out the video link they have at engadget. If that thing goes wrong it would go WAY wrong...

South Park HD Free on XBOX Live

Starting tomorrow, Xbox Live members will be able to download, for free, a special HD version of the South Park episode ‘Good Times with Weapons’. - majornelson.com

This is pretty cool. I am looking forward to moving away from broadcast television and moving to an on-demand system. Why do we have to watch shows at a set time. Tivo has already fixed this problem but I want the next step getting content when I want how I want it.
